It is the telling of a story through the perceptions of its creator making it truly representative of the artist's outlook on life. A year ago one of my friends purchased a digital camcorder and decided to make a dramatic short film. I was asked whether I would be interested in helping to make his vision a reality. I agreed, and was very excited to be able to help create something that has always interested me. It took three months to shoot the film, and the editing process is yet to be completed. The main elements of creating a short film are writing the script, a substantial sum of money, and finding people who share your vision and will put forth an equal amount of effort, this includes people who will be acting and helping with the production aspect of the film. A film can be made with a small amount of money, but it is very difficult to accomplish. The most efficient equipment you can use to make a film is a digital camera, a computer with a video editing program, a scene marker, some lighting props, wardrobes, and other miscellaneous tools and props, such as extension cords, books, etc. I recommend using a digital camera, because they are very versatile and have a lot of different effects. Plus, in the long run it is much cheaper than using film and much better quality than video. The writing of the script is entirely dependent on what you want your story to be about and what the characters have to say in order for the audience to understand what you are trying to say. There are script-writing programs you can buy on the Internet and probably some that are free as well. It is a good idea to write down what you want your camera shots to be as well as the character's dialogue. An Analysis of the Anti-Utopian Notion in â€Å"Notes from Underground† Notes from Underground, completed in 1864, is considered one of Dostoevsky’s most deviously insightful works, famous for its gloomy description of not only the dark historical period but also the dark environment in which the protagonist lives. This is a novel that attacks moralism, rationalism, utilitarianism and utopian idealism. After a thorough reading, one can locate abundant clues and evidence to support that one of the core themes of Notes from Underground is the fight against the world that people would call civilized, i.e. the ideal world that people are longing for, and the world that â€Å"I†, the protagonist of the story, will deny. The opening paragraphs of the story clearly convey the protagonist’s view of life, personality and the status of his rationality. Almost immediately, we learn that the protagonist is afflicted by illness but refuses to receive medical treatment. He says, â€Å"My liver hurts; well, then let it hurt even worse†(3). He interprets medical treatment as â€Å"harming only myself and no one else.† This reveals how clearly he understands his illness. That he chooses not to see a doctor proves the protagonist’s advocacy for free will and the power of this free will could make him choose to tolerate the pain rather than seek a cure. Well-being and happiness are desirable goals, and also the features of the utopian world, but he chooses to deny these notions and suffer in order to prove his views. Furthermore, his monologue also implies his championing of rationality over morality and how he escapes from the control imposed by morality. He says: â€Å"What was the main point about my wickedness? The whole thing precisely was †¦ that I was simply frightening sparrows in vain, and pleasing myself with it.†(4) This excerpt shows how powerfully moral judgment suppresses a person’s anger. It changes a person in rage into a timid sparrow.Moreover, simple comfort like a doll or sugar could assuage him. Closely following the above quote is the protagonist’s confession, â€Å"an intelligent man of the nineteenth century must be and is morally obliged to be primarily a characterless being; and a man of character, an active figure – primarily a limited being† (5). When everybody is calling for a higher standard of morality, the protagonist expresses the idea that morality makes people characterless. When morality is considered a social progress towards utopian idealism, the protagonist chooses to avoid it and live out his life outside of this movement, behaving in a way that society would deem wicked. He dislikes s ociety, so he stays away from it, and he remains â€Å"wicked† so as not to become characterless. The protagonist clearly knows that he could not blend in with society because of his wickedness, but upon facing their derision, he could do nothing but fight back in protest. This is illustrated by his encounter with an officer in the street. In thinking about how to deal with the superior officer, he says, â€Å"it tormented me that even in the street I simply could not be on an equal footing with him.† (48) He thought it humiliating and unequal that he would have to step aside in deference to the officer even though the man had no authority on the street. He even imagines, â€Å"what if I meet him and do not step aside? Deliberately do not step aside, even if I have to shove him?† (48) The key word here is equality, in that the protagonist does not want to exist in a system where an officer is perceived to have more value than the common man. He just would not swerve to obtain his sense of being treated equally, and all the theory of equality comes from western enlig htenment. As an intellect influenced by it, he becomes oversensitive after he spends too much of his energy focusing on it.Equality is a concept that exists in the description of ideal interpersonal relationships and, crucially, in the utopian world. It is a social state that everybody desires. However, that he emphasizes the notion of equality with such vehemence indicates that it has influenced and changed his personality and social behavior, which implies that he is a rebel of idealism. Ultimately, the narrator rejects blending in with society, and does not seek the same sense of happiness that others yearn for. His love affair with Liza is another example that proves he avoids the notion of happiness as interpreted by others. In chapter six, he says, â€Å"I grew up without a family: that must be why I turned out this way†¦feeling† (84). This personal judgment of himself prepares him for his later escape from Liza. His emotional confession of his situation touched his sensitive nerve to love, but as his confession echoes Liza’s misfortune, Liza started to pay special attention to him. However, after â€Å"seeing her suddenly blush† for what could happen next, he abruptly starts to defend himself by saying, â€Å"I am not ashamed of my poverty,† â€Å"I look upon my poverty with pride† (106) Poor but noble this is his self-evaluation which reveals his sensitiveness. Then he â€Å"jumped up and ran to Apollon,† and he t hinks he â€Å"had to vanish somewhere† (106). His sudden departure finally ends his love of Liza, which also proves that he is not only sensitive but also lacks confidence. He is poor, but he finds reasons and defends his poverty, which proves that he is afraid of his future with Liza. Because love is considered a blissful thing and a symbol of an ideal world, he chooses to avoid it and escape. The Underground Mans failed relationship with Liza, when considered together with his attitude of his life and his social behavior helps to conclude that he staunchly refused to pursue what others would perceive as an ideal world. Everything that marks idealism and betterment he choose to escape from in order to preserve his worldview of free will over happiness. The Classical School of economic theory began with the publication in 1776 of Adam Smiths monumental work, The Wealth of Nations. The book identified land, labor, and capital as the three factors of production and the major contributors to a nations wealth. In Smiths view, the ideal economy is a self-regulating market system that automatically satisfies the economic needs of the population. He described the market mechanism as an invisible hand that leads all individuals, in pursuit of their own self-interests, to produce the greatest benefit for society as a whole. While Adam Smith emphasized the production of income, David Ricardo focused on the distribution of income among landowners, workers, and capitalists. Ricardo saw a conflict between landowners on the one hand and labor and capital on the other. He posited that the growth of population and capital, pressing against a fixed supply of land, pushes up rents and holds down wages and profits. Thomas Robert Malthus used the idea of diminishing returns to explain low living standards. Population, he argued, tended to increase geometrically, outstripping the production of food, which increased arithmetically. The force of a rapidly growing population against a limited amount of land meant diminishing returns to labor. The result, he claimed, was chronically low wages, which prevented the standard of living for most of the population from rising above the subsistence level. Malthus also questioned the automatic tendency of a market economy to produce full employment. He blamed unemployment upon the economys tendency to limit its spending by saving too much. . Classical economists theorized that prices are determined by the costs of production. Marginalist economists emphasized that prices also depend upon the level of demand, which in turn depends upon the amount of consumer satisfaction provided by individual goods and services. Marginalists provided modern macroeconomics with the basic analytic tools of demand and supply, consumer utility, and a mathematical framework for using those tools. Marginalists also showed that in a free market economy, the factors of production land, labor, and capital receive returns equal to their contributions to production. This principle was sometimes used to justify the existing distribution of income: that people earned exactly what they or their property contributed to production An advocate of a labor theory of value, Marx believed that all production belongs to labor because workers produce all value within society. He believed that the market system allows capitalists, the owners of machinery and factories, to exploit workers by denying them a fair share of what they produce. Marx predicted that capitalism would produce growing misery for workers as competition for profit led capitalists to adopt labor-saving machinery, creating a reserve army of the unemployed who would eventually rise up and seize the means of production. Institutionalist economists regard individual economic behavior as part of a larger social pattern influenced by current ways of living and modes of thought. They rejected the narrow Classical view that people are primarily motivated by economic self-interest. Opposing the laissez-faire attitude towards governments role in the economy, the Reacting to the severity of the worldwide depression, John Maynard Keynes in 1936 broke from the Classical tradition with the publication of the General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money. The Classical view assumed that in a recession, wages and prices would decline to restore full employment. Keynes held that the opposite was true. Falling prices and wages, by depressing peoples incomes, would prevent a revival of spending. Summary Economic theories are constantly changing. Keynesian theory, with its emphasis on activist government policies to promote high employment, dominated economic policymaking in the early post-war period. But, starting in the late 1960s, troubling inflation and lagging productivity prodded economists to look for new solutions. Supply-side Economics recalls the Classical Schools concern with economic growth as a fundamental prerequisite for improving societys material well-being. Here the majority of women believe themselves to be utterly perfect ‘southern-belles’, who devote their life to discussing the works of Jesus .One thing is apparent, though, the women in the group hold diverse viewpoints and represent the various liberal, conservative, and hypocritical viewpoints found in the general population of Maycomb county. We see how shallow they actually are when they go into discussion about the â€Å"Mrunas† and how awful it would be to have people such as this living in their community, with â€Å"lots of children running round† â€Å"all dirty† and â€Å"flea ridden†. Here we see the uncanny irony because, these women have these type of people living amongst them; the Ewell family. But although they may see this similarity, they may refuse to accept it because as â€Å"Ladies†, they cannot accept such atrocities in their own town. Although the theme of religion is though to be taken seriously by every member of the community, it is only really practised by the black community. Indeed, the white people practise it. But, in measures such as when Miss Maudie is condemned for looking after her garden when she could be reading the bible. In methods such as enforcement of religion, people will never take it as seriously than if they would have had the chance to learn about Methodists, rather than having it drummed into them at birth. Phrases from the Bible such as â€Å"Do unto others as you would like done unto you† and â€Å"Love your neighbour as you love yourself† are not given a second thought as the community continues to be a hypocritical, racist and unjust  society. No though for other people’s feelings is given in Maycomb county, no thought for how someone may be feeling, especially if they are black. For the community of Maycomb, does not believe the black people to have any feelings whatsoever. Just as long as the white people still feel they are a perfect community, full of devout, God-fearing people, they do not care who is put to death and who suffers. The Bible does not say anything about the ill treatment of black people. It does not commend or apprehend racial or sexist discrimination. So, if these people base their lives on the teachings of the Bible, why is their discrimination in their society? Historical reasons. Discrimination and racism had nothing to do with their religious beliefs; it was because of a long history of conflict, starting way before Civil War. So, wouldn’t you have thought that in the nineteen hundreds, people would have woken up to the fact that colour of skin has no preference on a person? But, the people of Maycomb County are so fixed in their ways of social class that their racist ways will never change. Black people occupy the lowest class level in the Maycomb society. Not because of their deprivation or the way they speak, it was because of the colour of their skin. In conclusion, religion plays an extremely important part in To Kill a Mockingbird. It forms a stem for other morals and beliefs such as discrimination; both racism and sexism and shows the reader what an unjust community Maycomb County is. On the surface of the communities personalities are holy, devout people. But, as we study their religion along with their morals, the realisation is in fact that theses people use their religion as an excuse to discriminate, not only against black members of the society, but in some cases women. Religion will always play a big part in society and culture, even in present day, but in the early nineteen hundreds, it was treated properly only by a few people. The rest, use it as a basis to form other such like beliefs and ethics, going so far away from the holy life Jesus intended, by being evil, self-centred human beings.

The religious ceremony was done at the same church where here parents were married. The Maid Of Honor was her married sister, and my sister and I were her bridesmaids. She wore her mother's wedding gown which was updated in design for her own b ig day. Cathy walked down the aisle to the traditional wedding march, on the arm of her father. Upon leaving the church as husband and wife, the newly married couple joined a few select group of family and friends for a small reception at the house of Cathy's parents. Everything about the way Cathy's wedding was handled told you that it was old school or traditional in nature. It had the feel of a familiar hand within all the aspects of the special day. It was quite obvious that everyone related to the family had pitched in and did their part to make the event as memorable as possible on an intimate level. A non-traditional wedding however, well, that's just something right up my cousin Rick's alley. He had always been a person who got his kicks out of crazy experiments. Who knew that he would decide to experiment on his wedding day as well? Okay, his choice of bride may have had something to do with it. She was just as imaginative as he was. Their wedding, was done without much pla nning during a scuba diving trip to Hawaii. Maybe it was the location, or maybe it was the hyper joy that they were feeling during the time they spent on the island paradise. Whatever the reason, they came back from the trip with a video of their under the sea wedding that totally knocked the family off its feet. Talk about non-traditional, there was no wedding gown or tuxedo involved, just wet suits. No bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead they had lifeguards with oxygen tanks on the ready. The justice of the peace that married them joined them on the beach for the first half of the ceremony, where only a handful of friends and family who could fly out to for the impromptu event gathered to bear witness, and then the 3 of them, with lifeguards and their videographer dove into the deeper parts of the waters to seal the deal. Unique, non-traditional, and very exciting. Anybody who got married under those conditions would have to be crazy. But then again, that is what makes a non-traditi onal wedding unique and memorable. Finally, we come to the mixed wedding ceremony, which takes the best of the traditional and non-traditional weddings to come up with a truly memorable and unique event for the couple who, in this case, was my sister Amanda and her fiancee Hal.
